Sporting Profiles | British Athletes Biography Cards and Classroom Ideas

Give students real examples of dedication, resilience and achievement through short biographies of well-known British athletes. Each of the twelve profiles is divided into four parts: the name and sport, early life, sporting achievements, and life beyond sport. Learners connect the sections, build the complete profile, and discuss key moments and qualities that shaped each athlete’s career.

We have included suggested activity ideas such as listening quizzes, sorting tasks, and secret-clue information exchange. These are starting points only. The profiles are flexible and can be used in whatever way suits your class, whether for speaking, reading, project work or quick cultural input. An optional research task supports presentation skills and deeper exploration of UK sport.
