Music & Film Tasks | Short Activities for English Language Learners

This resource contains five additional music and film themed tasks designed to extend your lesson or round off a themed unit. These short, creative activities give students the chance to explore sound, emotion, and visual storytelling while using English in original ways.
Learners try dubbing their own movie scenes, designing personalised theme music, creating soundtracks and trailers, or playing with mood and meaning by changing the music in a film clip. All activities promote spontaneous speaking, collaboration and media literacy, with minimal prep needed.
Originally developed as a companion to our larger Music & Film resource pack, these tasks work just as well on their own, offering flexible, low-prep ways to bring energy, creativity and culture into your classroom.
This resource is also part of our Music & Film | EFL Resource Pack, which is available to download here.
Perfect For:
- TEFL, ESOL, and EAL teachers looking for creative lesson extensions
- Music and film themed English lessons with a practical edge
- Developing student awareness of sound, emotion and genre in media
- Fun, accessible activities with minimal preparation
